It’s going to go for too much.

Kinja'd!!!

Why? Because this color exists, and spending your money on one this isn’t this color is unacceptable .

It’s so much fun to pass “real” sports cars on the track in a family sedan.

Wonder how high this will go. There are literally just 5 Manual SSs under $40K in the entire country. This might hit $ 38K easy. Automatics are both lot more numerous and at least $ 3-$ 5k cheaper.

LOL good luck trying to find a good SS for sale, on top of that a manual and if you want that Green you’ ll keep waiting forever.

I have a search setup in both Autotrader and Cargurus for quite a while now and Black/Silver/Red are on most cars. I have never seen this green for sale.

And here I just saw a manual G8 GXP for 33k...same thing right? I think 38k is about right, especially for a 3 pedal .

The G8 is older and smaller (at least a shorter wheelbase)

I would expect right around $40k when all is said and done on this one.  The 6-speeds go for quite a bit more than the autos.

If it got 25mpg highway I probably would have one instead of the Evora tbh. The manual makes the difference.

Ah yeah, that was tongue in cheek. Just funny how well they keep their value as “ limited production” GM RWD sedans.

I don’t think the GXP has mag ride, and is on an older chassis.  Fairly similar though, and yeah, it’s the same LS3, I believe.

I know, it’s more a comment on a shame there weren’t more of them sold. I wouldn’t personally buy one new, but if BMW had offered a green on the F82 M3, I might have gotten that instead of mine.

That’s basically a police Caprice, correct? With a manual?

Kinja'd!!! E90M3 > KingT- 60% of the time, it works every time
09/18/2018 at 16:04

Kinja'd!!!1

I did. Not being a manual is really going to hurt the value, suspect somewhere ~38k.  If that was a stick, I wouldn’t be surprised if that went for ~45k.

Actually the Caprice is basically a G8.  It's the last gen commodore. The ss was the next generation.

I like it exactly because it has the unassuming Malibu like sleeper look. Well there’s always the Dodge Chargers if you want the looks to go with those Hemis.

If that’s the choice, I’ll take the SS. I have started seeing Chargers and Challengers with the little plastic protectors on the front splitter left on , though, so at least that idiotic trend continues.

I know an eye doctor around here with this same green (‘17) . Looks fabulous. I have ‘17 Slipstream Blue and love it. Saw that green one today, and being a green fan, I did a double take. Got mine in 8/17, months after production ended and there wasn’t a Peacock Green anywhere to be found on Gulf Coast. Did a little after market black stuff (spoiler, side vents, fog lamp frames) and even better. I’m an auto-only guy; negligence in my upbringing, ya know.

How do you just go to a “ track” to be able to pass, etc. Is there a way to look into doing that if, like me, you’re just (in performance driving terms) a schlub? Thx.

Charger has a couple good lines but is huge car and has slab sides.  I've had blue SS for over a year.  Looks good.  And the Malibu thing terribly overdone, if not totally ridiculous.

The Holden Commodore was sold as the Pontiac G8 (VE generation) and Chevrolet SS (VF generation). The Holden Caprice (WM  Generation) is an extended wheelbase Holden Commodore, sold as the Chevrolet Caprice PPV in the US

Caprice is the WM Caprice. G8 is the VE Commodore.

LWB vs SWB.

The WM was also updated to WN spec as well, with the newer interior, while the exterior stayed the same.

Check out your local track. They’ll most likely have weekend events, open to novices, where you can get some instruction in class and in car to drive on track with other drivers in a controlled environment (passing areas, point-bys). They’ll call them HPDE, or  lapping days, or high speed touring, or something similar.

Is the DCT THAT bad, or is it just not preferred considering the kind of buyers you’d see on BAT?

It’s not bad, probably actually makes the car better in the sense of speed. I’ve driven one, I’d have no problem with owning one. The manual is better in the sense of driver engagement . The trend of the 6MT cars selling for more than DCT cars is not limited to BAT, it’s preva le n t throughout the E9X market.
